October is Funding for Arts Month at the Foundation Center! Throughout the month, take advantage of the special events, classes, and Web resources available to help artists and nonprofit arts organizations become better grantseekers; network with fellow artists and colleagues; and gain insights into what's happening in your local arts funding community. Growing Arts Audiences - FREE report
Arts groups can widen their audiences by improving their marketing, expanding their use of technology, and doing more audience research, the report Arts for All: Connecting to New Audiences (24 pages, PDF) finds. The report came out of a recent conference hosted by the New York City-based Wallace Foundation in which experts from the arts and other fields gathered to share ideas about how arts groups can be more successful at building audience participation.

Arts in Education Program
The Arts in Education (AIE) program supports activities that promote the arts as an integral part of education and lifelong learning for all people in the State of Florida. It aims to support projects which make a difference in the community, such as: in-depth residencies at schools, colleges & universities, hospitals, detention centers & prisons, nursing facilities, hospitals & assisted living centers, cultural or community centers; cultural programs serving elders and the building of intergenerational programs; professional development for teachers; arts in education research, evaluation and assessment tools; and partnerships between cultural organizations and others which promote quality artistic programs and lifelong learning in the arts. Eligible applicants include: Rural and/or Underserved counties. Award ceiling: $15,000. Application deadline: December 8, 2008.

Cultural Support Grants Program
The mission of the Cultural Support Grants Program is to foster excellence and diversity in art and culture for all the people in the State of Florida. Through these grants, the Division encourages a commitment to outreach and educational services to underserved areas and populations and increased access for persons with disabilities. Funded by the Florida Legislature, the program supports non-profit cultural organizations, recurring cultural programs, museums and non-arts organizations. Two types of funding are offered: General Program Support and Specific Projects. Award ceiling: $350,000. Application deadline: December 15, 2008.
