Application Deadline: There is no deadline for submitting an electronic letter of inquiry. Foundation staff reviews electronic letters of inquiry on an ongoing basis and typically responds within two days, but asks that applicants allow up to two weeks for a response. The foundation will send an e-mail message to each organization either declining its request or inviting it to submit a formal application packet for further consideration.

Description: The RGK Foundation awards grants in the broad areas of education, community, and medicine/health.

Who May Apply: Grants are made only to nonprofit organizations certified as tax-exempt under Sections 501(c)(3) or 170(c) of the Internal Revenue Code and classified as "not a private foundation" under Section 509(a).

Funding Amount: While the foundation does award some grants of more than $25,000, the average grant will be under $25,000.

BCA Ten: Best Companies Supporting the Arts in America
The BCA Ten is a national list created by the Business Committee for the Arts, Inc. to recognize businesses of all sizes for their exceptional involvement with the arts. Nomination statements should address how the company supports the arts (e.g., leadership, long-term commitment, impact, addressing community needs, employee and customer involvement, and encouraging other companies to support the arts). Companies, large and small, that support the arts in the United States are eligible to apply. Tax-exempt not-for-profit organizations and companies in the BCA Hall of Fame or companies named to the BCA Ten in 2005, 2006, and 2007 are not eligible. Anyone (individual, arts organization, company employee) may nominate a company for the awards. Application Deadline: March 31, 2008.

Innovation Generation Grants
The Motorola Foundation will provide funding for Innovation Generation Grants to organizations that engage K-12 students and teachers in the U.S. in innovation, science, technology, engineering, and math. Funding priority will be placed on pioneering programs that engage students and teachers in innovative, hands-on activities; teach innovation and creative problem-solving skills; focus on girls and underrepresented minorities; engage Motorola employees as volunteers; take place in Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, and Texas communities where Motorola has an employee presence; demonstrate measurable outcomes; and are less than two years old. Any U.S. nonprofit organization, school, or school district may apply. Grant applicants may request up to $100,000 each. Application deadline: March 1, 2008.

More Kids in the Woods Program
This agency-wide Forest Service call for proposals for "More Kids in the Woods" projects is part of a continuing effort to improve childrens’ health by reconnecting them with nature. Projects need to engage non-federal partners with at least a 1:1 match. Matching contributions may be in-kind or cash. Award ceiling: $500,000. Project proposals must be submitted to a Forest Service office or field unit by February 15, 2008.

Cat Network Offers Discounted Spay/Neuter Certificates

Cat Network, Inc. has long offerer $25 certificates to spay or neuter cats at participating veterinarians. Through a recent grant award, they are able to offer discounted certificates.

"We are still offering $10 certificates through a grant CN received from
Florida Animal Friend (spay/neuter license plate sales). The purchaser has
to show proof of Medicaid, food stamps, WIC, or Jackson Health, and they may
purchase certificates until CN utilizes all the money from this grant. If
someone has any of the above forms of assistance, they can mail a copy of
their card along with their certificate request; the order will be filled at the
lower cost if funds are available."

Unfortunately, grant funds that allowed for "buy 2 get 1 free" matching certificates for the $25 certificates have run out. However, as Miami-Dade County has recently ended its free spay/ neuter program, this is one of the most cost effective means of spaying strays and adoptable cats.

2008 Princess Grace Awards
The Princess Grace Foundation-USA announces the availability of applications for the 2008 Princess Grace Awards in Theater, Playwriting, Dance Performance, Choreography, and Film. The Foundation is dedicated to identifying and assisting emerging artists in theater, dance, and film. All Princess Grace Awards applicants must be U.S. citizens or have permanent resident status at the time of application. Additionally, all applicants (except playwriting) must be nominated by a non-profit organization (school or company) with which they will be affiliated during the grant period (September 2008 - August 2009). Award ceiling: various. Application deadline: March 31, 2008; April 30, 2008; June 2, 2008.

Ronald McDonald House Charities Grants to Aid Children
Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC)and its global network of local RMHC Chapters provide grants and program services designed to make an immediate, positive impact on children in need around the world. RMHC provides grants to nonprofit, tax-exempt organizations whose national or global programs help improve the health and well-being of children. Organizations seeking funding should have a specific program that directly improves the health and well-being of children; addresses a significant funding gap or critical opportunity; has long-term impact in terms of replication or reach; and produces measurable results. Organizations seeking funding should have a broad base of funding support, management capacity to effectively execute the project, and a clear, concise plan for project evaluation with outcome measurement. An applicant must be designated a not-for-profit, tax-exempt charitable organization. U.S. charities must have a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status letter on file with the Internal Revenue Service. The RMHC board of trustees is most interested in national or international organizations that have a specific program related to children's health and well-being. Letter of Inquiry Deadline: April 28, 2008 and September 8, 2008.

2008 National Preservation Honor Awards
The National Trust for Historic Preservation is now accepting nominations for the 2008 National Preservation Honor Awards. The coveted annual awards recognize singular success in preserving, rehabilitating, restoring or interpreting America's architectural and cultural heritage. Individuals who have been involved in an outstanding preservation project completed in the past three years, or those who know of a corporation, nonprofit organization, public agency, or individual who has helped save a part of America's local or national heritage, are encouraged to submit a nomination. Application deadline: March 1, 2008.

Miami Beach Cultural Grants Period open - Initial consultations coming up!

Application Period Opens: Thursday, January 17, 2008

Appointments are scheduled on a “first come first serve” basis and must be scheduled at least one week in advance. It is in the best interest of the applicant to schedule this appointment as early as possible in the event that a second consultation review is necessary.
